The hottest ticket in town for 2012. Set to be the biggest event Ibiza has seen in over a Decade. Rocktronica is the concept, combining the world’s biggest Rock Stars with the world’s biggest DJ’s on the same stage. Location is the famous Sun Set Strip in San Antonio, a three day 30,000 capacity Festival running 1-3rd July 2012.

Recode are proud to be the technology partner and were commissioned to produce the full branding and website design for this cutting edge Festival. We are currently working round the clock with 123 to help pull this event together, its the most anticipated event of the summer. If only we could tell you who the guests are, but its secret right now, lets just say when there revelaed it will send a shockwave through the dance music community, the word ‘Big’ is an understatement. Your talking mega stars!

The artwork concept here is to replicate the most famous sunset of all, that has captured the soul of every first time visitor to the island. The magical sunset hue that gets cast across adorning crowds throughout the summer. The heat and light combined create huge energy and excitement every night before people head off to the clubs. Recode has embodied that concept into the branding and are working with some retro concepts to create the ultimate sunset visuals. Think 80′s halftone, pulsating radials and deep Sunset oranges and you will be on the right tracks. We will be posting up more samples as they are confirmed. This is going to be one hell of a journey!

DJ W!LD enjoys a lot of attention these days, thanks to his strong recent releases on labels like Motivbank, RAL 9005 and his own Catwash imprint, but don’t think this guy is a newcomer: the 33-year old Paris-resident has been around as a dj and producer for more than ten years, already played half the world and released many records, often as “Catwash” with his friend Chris Carrier. W!LD’s first release for OFF Recordings fits perfect to the label with a great mixture of advanced house music. Great samples and jacking grooves with strong Chicago references.

Cubana is a full-on floorburner with a rock-solid groove and tasteful latin samples on a strong forward-going groove; a bittersweet foretaste of the coming summer during rainy spring days. “You’re In My Bones” shows the deeper side of DJ W!LD, with an equally strong and moving groove but a more minimal and monotonous buildup and those sexy vocals; W!LD’s very personal declaration of love to house music.

Reflexiones De Mix Acciones shows yet another side of W!LD; a melancholic track with strong pads, ambitious sound-design, a unique atmosphere and a huge break, perfect for afterhours… The ep is completed by a remix from Off label manager Andre Crom and his friend David Pher: they turn “Refexiones…” into a stripped-down groove-monster with a bassline that’ll get woofers and booties shaking on dancefloors all over.  (added: 2009-04-01 17:32:19 )

A Night-time Snowboarding Short Lights Up the Last of the Winter Snow

Fashion photographer and filmmaker Jacob Sutton swaps the studio for the slopes of Tignes in the Rhône-Alpes region of south-eastern France, with a luminous after hours short starring Artec pro snowboarder William Hughes. The electrifying film sees Hughes light up the snow-covered French hills in a bespoke L.E.D.-enveloped suit courtesy of designer and electronics whizz John Spatcher. “I was really drawn to the idea of a lone character made of light surfing through darkness,” says Sutton of his costume choice. “I’ve always been excited by unusual ways of lighting things, so it seemed like an exciting idea to make the subject of the film the only light source.” Sutton, who has created work for the likes of Hermès, Burberry and The New York Times, spent three nights on a skidoo with his trusty Red Epic camera at temperatures of -25C to snap Hughes carving effortlessly through the deep snow, even enlisting his own father to help maintain the temperamental suit throughout the demanding shoot. “Filming in the suit was the most surreal thing I’ve done in 20 years of snowboarding,” says Hughes of the charged salopettes. “Luckily there was plenty of vin rouge to keep me warm, and Jacob’s enthusiasm kept everyone going through the cold nights.”

Part 2 of the IMS site launches later today, reinventing the site to work as a 365 day a year conference facility has been a long but exciting process. The site pre conference concentrates on the promotion and sales of event tickets and accommodation packages. After the event the system flips into a ‘video on demand’ service. Then online chat and forums will continue the discussions and hot topics of the conference. We will be uploading shortly a time line so you can see how the site operates on a more intricate level.

Launching this week with a very impressive 3 million tracks and 30,000 labels, Pachadownload.com has finally arrived. Carrying every major label and producer in the dance music genres. Pachadownload is aimed at the music lover not just DJ’s, the site has been configured to deliver the best albums and tracks for your iPod.

Recode working alongside Juno have delivered V1 of the pachadownload site. Connecting these two major brands has been a fantastic experience, we are happy with the results and are already planning Verison 2 of the website. More details to follow soon!

Though merely 21 years old, much is now expected ofDiynamic‘s David August. This is mostly his own doing too, and it’s a fact almost entirely attributable to the success of tracks such as ‘Hamburg is for Lovers’ and the equally ubiquitous ‘Moving Day’.

His third release for Solomun’s prolific imprint sees him map out another series of unpretentious, bass laden, melodic tunes. So whileAugust’s output rarely strays too far from its vehement house origins, when the results are as consistently satisfying as they are, I can’t escape the feeling that I may well be the only one who’s taken note of the fact.
Petty debates aside, ‘You Got to Love Me’ is indeed vintageDiynamic and by that very nature I suppose, trademark August. Heavily reliant on its bass guitar chords and a vocal that could well be borrowed (or at least, inspired) by, fellow Diynamic fledglingsOst & Kjex, ‘You Got to Love Me’ is draped in a sultry tone that’s sure to prompt a dance-floor stir.
‘On My Mind’ pins its colours to a more “futuristic” mast, with a friendly, more accessible, almost synth-pop sound prevalent amongst its chorus of clever drums.

It’s the concluding effort ‘Stepping through Myself’ however, which is easily the most captivating of all the listens here, leaving a mark on the listener in much the same way as the aforementionedAugust releases. With groaning piano keys fostering a tense atmosphere, it’s reminiscent in parts to D.B’s ‘Limit’ edit, and simultaneously showcases August’s slightly more serious side in the process. Fans of Diynamic’s personality-laden house sound are sure to lap this up in droves, and with good reason too.

Possible one of the best examples of modern film making. The Cinematography, Graphics and concept of this ‘out of the box’ Snowboarding Movie is none other than spectacular. Produced by the infamous Red Bull Media House in partnership with  Brain Farm Digital Cinema, they captured the soul of Snowboarding and extreme sports in all its glory.

The HD Cinematography of this production really comes into its own when you see the pan shots across the peaks of Patagonia and Alaska, the depth of field plays havoc with your senses and gives you a snapshot view of the majestic mountain ranges and glaciers this world has to offer. Follow Travis Rice and his pro team as they experience Heli Boarding on a whole other level. Highlights for me are the vertical drop line in Patagonia and the gas bottle shooting range… yes thats right, boys and toys at its best. Recode recommends you not only watch this clip, you go out and buy the Blue Ray DVD and watch it repeatedly. Inspiration at its absolute best!

Well… what can we say about this? three words spring to mind instantly… Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!
Without doubt one of the best releases that has landed our way this year. Laid out nicely by an all start lineup from Ibiza based producers SOS, Nima Gorji, Jose De Divina and Javi Murdock. You can see why we got excited when it came through. After listening to it on repeat for about 4hrs yesterday I have to say that the Nima Gorji mix is my personal preference, however not to be shunned.. the Original Mix will be equally destructive on a big sound system, absolutely lovin the Original mixes vocal snip, nicely done guys, top marks all round!
